Feeling hollow inside.
Who: Lucina and Solaire
Where: Carvaka setting (more or less)
Summary: The longer Solaire resists this place and refuses to give in to its licentious demands, the more he begins to lose his Humanity.
Warnings: Sex. (Of the partially zombified variety.)
Solaire was a stubborn soul. Ultimately, his faith meant everything to him, and he would do anything in his power to maintain that faith. This included his oath of celibacy, one that this awful place was hellbent on breaking. Despite it all, despite the risks and constant warnings, he'd managed to stave off the need to have sex for over four weeks of his stay.
Unfortunately the consequences were stacking against him now. It had started five days prior, and had grown exponentially worse each day. In that time, he refused to remove his helmet around other people anymore. In fact, he refused to remove it or any of his clothing at all, except to bathe - something he did in private. For the sake of keeping his condition hidden, he barely ate, barely slept, barely said a word to others, things that only made his condition even worse.
Five days he managed to keep it hidden, until that morning when he'd forgotten the name of his God, forgotten the name of his kingdom, when he'd very nearly forgotten even his own name. Another side effect of the curse. He'd never let it get so bad before, despite knowing the possibility that it could happen. It scared him. He couldn't take it anymore.
Throwing his helmet against the ground, Solaire sat in the corner of the living room of the cottage, back pressed against the wall as he clutched his head and closed his eyes. "Solaire... Solaire... Solaire..." He repeated his own name over and over again. "Solaire of... Solaire of..." He struggled and struggled, but he couldn't remember his own place of birth... He'd heard that the oldest memories always went first, and it had been so long since he'd been there, wherever 'there' was.
Though mostly shadowed by his posture, it was plain to see even from across the room that something was terribly wrong with his face.

It's a tough new reality to swallow, but with help, Lucina manages to accept it.
As the Once and Future Exalt, however, Lucina tries to be a bit more discerning instead of simply flinging herself at people in hopes to keep her existence intact. Friendships, after all, were just as important as ensuring continued existence. Solaire just happened to be one of those that had earned Lucina's friendship, though not a particularly hard thing to accomplish. It was hard not to admire a man who's faith was everything to him, after all. It's him she's going to visit, for something of a chat. Generally there's been no scheduling of their visits, and Lucina simply shows up when she feels like checking in on him.
When she finds him muttering and chanting his name, however, that's when Lucina clues in that something must be terribly wrong. She rushes over as quickly as she can.
"Solaire! Solaire, are you alright? What ails you?" She doesn't stop when she finally gets a good look at what happens to be wrong with his face, but she does slow down considerably, terrible memories of the undead flooding back to her. It's on reflex that her hand goes immediately to Falchion, as a precautionary measure should things turn for the worst. Would they? She hopes not.

"Please, do not draw your weapon on me... I promise you, I am no threat. I won't hurt you." Not yet, anyway. "I... I apologize, for hiding this from you. I did not want you or the others to worry. I fear my extended time here refusing to abide by this world's rules is beginning to... to..." Solaire swallowed the lump forming in his throat, muttering quietly again as his gaze went out of focus and he began staring into empty space. "Solaire, Solaire, Solaire of..."

Her eyes narrow as he continues chanting, however. He's... Coming undone, it seems. It looks like religion does not help one here, though she supposes she should have known as much from Nah. Naga does not exist in this place, and neither would this mans own gods. In what she hopes is a comforting motion, she reaches out, pressing a hand to his shoulder in a hopefully unobtrusive way.
"You are Solaire of Astora, and you are my friend. I will stay beside you for however long you need."

"Let me explain..." Solaire touched his fingers to the dark red flesh. Part of his hand near his wrist was also beginning to shrivel. "I... back in my own world, in Astora, I became undead to pursue a pilgrimage, to fulfill a prophecy. My curse was easy to stave off back home, but... this place..." He pressed one large, calloused hand over Lucina's. "My body and my mind are going to decay until there is nothing left of me but a husk, unless I..."
Every part of the remainder of his mind screamed no, but he had to face reality. "I'm afraid I won't last more than a few more days at this rate..." he whispered.

"I see. Unless you do as the Hedonists demand to ensure your existence, you will deteriorate until there is nothing left of you but a husk." She grits her teeth as she finishes speaking. Was that truly it? Lucina knows what needs to be done to help him, but... "I would never ask you to break your vows, Solaire, but... If you did wish to keep yourself, I would more than happily oblige." It's strange, to think of copulation in such a casual sense. It still brings a flush to her face.
But still, if it comes down to a choice between her body or watching a friend go through what Solaire is, to lose their existence if they don't, Lucina would more than happily give her body to keep someone safe. It just so happened that there was now an alternate meaning to those words.

"I... It wouldn't be pleasant. As I am, even the thought is almost unbearable. I've no experience in matters of romance or pleasure, and my own body is..." He didn't even know the extent of the current damage, but he knew it wasn't good. In his current state, there was no getting around it; it would be hideous. Solaire shook his head slowly, giving a sad and tired laugh. "I fear you would never be able to look at me the same, my friend."
no subject
"I will do as it takes, if you are willing and would have me. You needn't worry of my views of you changing afterward. First and foremost you are a stalwart friend and companion, and it would be a devastating blow to lose you." She'll... ignore the parts of him that remind her of the Risen. Solaire is Solaire, and he's no mindless undead sent to slaughter anyone whose path he crosses.
"I fear you would consider the same as me, however. I'm a far cry from anything that would be considered 'Womanly'. I've much too muscle." And far less in the way of her breasts. A sore spot for her, to be sure.

Solaire let out a heavy sigh as he weighed his options. Abandoning his faith... breaking his vows... Was it worth staving off madness? He supposed, no matter what, he would be losing himself, giving up who he is. The only difference would be that right now, he had a choice. It was better than the method other poor undead turned to, killing each other to harvest each other's souls in order to stave off the curse. But it would still be all for the sake of survival, to live a little bit longer, to preserve only his memories.
"... We undead often make sacrifices of our own morals in the name of self preservation. Sometimes I wonder what the point of continuing on like this is... I gave up my nobility, my home, and my humanity to find something that... Quite frankly I no longer believe really exists." He laughed quietly, though his laugh was deeply pained. He covered his eyes with his free palm as his shoulders shook with laughter. "I apologize, I shouldn't be saying such things. I want you to believe the best of me, to believe that I have the will to keep going."

"I won't force you into a decision, but I do wish you to know that no matter what it will be, I will stand by you. Should you choose to remain adherent to your faith and turn into a Risen, or cast it away and save yourself. No matter your choice, I will not think less of you, and I will help you through whatever it is you feel is the best course of action."

Solaire turned her words over in his head, considering them heavily... He was dead quiet as he weighed his options. Would it be cowardly to give up and let the curse do its work on him? He'd be preserving his faith, maintaining his vows, his core beliefs, to the very end. And yet, he had to admit, the biggest pull to it was that he'd finally be allowed to give up...
It was harder, much, much harder, to keep going. But... Part of him knew, he had to. Lucina had said... for someone's sake, even if it wasn't his own, for someone's sake, he had to keep going. Even if he didn't know who, or why, well... that was all the more reason to keep going, to buy more time to find out.
The knight let out a shuddering breath, fingers trembling as he took both of Lucina's into his own. "As I said, this won't be pleasant..."

She doesn't have that insight with Solaire, as close as they may be. Lucina hasn't spent her childhood with him, running and playing at swords until it stopped being playing and became years of war and fighting to stay alive.
Lucina supposes, in a way, he must feel similarly, thrust into such a strange and predicament.
"You needn't worry about harming me. I'm quite durable." That's... a joke. A poor one, but she wishes to lighten the mood.

If the situation was embarrassing for Lucina, it was downright mortifying for Solaire. He was by no means really ashamed of the act of sex... rather, the concept of bodily pleasure was something he'd given up for the sake of keeping his focus on the divine, instead of the earthly. Ultimately this just left him rather naive.
"... We should move to the bedroom, yes?"
no subject
"That seems like the best course of action. If you'll take the lead, then? ... Unless you'd like me too. I've heard conflicting things about what men prefer from women, so I'm unsure."
no subject
The knight squeezed her hand lightly, letting out a heavy breath as he smiled at her. "I only wish to do what makes you most comfortable. My 'preferences' are of little concern."
no subject
She breathes out a shaky breath. "This isn't where my er, expertise lies, but it seems we're much the same in that regard. I suppose as long as both of us reach a climax, it shouldn't really matter how it occurs, should it?" She's hopeful that's the case, anyway. If she's lucky it'll only really need to be one of them.
